Frequently Asked Questions

Please read through the following information carefully to best prepare for your appointment and after care/touch-ups.

How Long Does The Procedure Take?

The first session will take about 1.5 hours and involves three steps. Firstly, your brows, eyeliner or lips will be shaped and styled with the opportunity to review and approve how it looks. Secondly, we'll proceed with the colour selection to find the perfect shade for your skin tone and hair colour. Once you are satisfied with the colour selection, we will begin the procedure.
A follow-up appointment should be made 6-8 weeks later, to correct any issues and make touch ups where needed.

How Long Does It Take To Heal?

Your permanent makeup will be a bit red and sensitive at first and the colour will be more saturated. This is normal and will subside eventually, with the final colour of your permanent makeup being about 20-40% lighter once healing is complete. After a few days your skin will begin to scab and peel - this is completely normal. Do not scratch or pick at the scabs as this is a delicate part of the healing process and any picking can damage the skin and reduce the quality of the final effect, as the pigment is still settling.
Within 7-14 days your brows or lips will be healed. Your eyeliner takes 3–5 days and by the one-month mark your permanent makeup colour will show. You'll notice that the colour appears a bit milky and dull during the healing phase - this is normal as your skin is still healing. Once your skin is fully healed, the true colour will appear and remain.

Do I Have To Come In For The Touch-Up Appointment?

Yes, absolutely. A follow-up appointment around 6-8 weeks after your first appointment will be the ideal time, as your skin will have recovered and any need for adjustments to sections or colour will be more apparent. Making the time for a touch-up appointment will ensure that you'll have perfect permanent makeup for the next 1-3 years.

Can I Make My Appointment For A Touch-Up Before 6 Weeks Have Passed?

It's strongly recommended to wait at least 6 weeks as your skin needs to heal and the pigment needs to settle before further work is done. Doing touch-up work sooner can cause scar tissue to develop and can damage the skin, as it is still busy healing.

Is It A Painful Procedure?

The pain level, at most, will be mild. A topical ointment that numbs the skin will be applied before starting the procedure and during the process which will vastly reduce pain and discomfort.

Most clients describe the pain level as similar to a minor sunburn.

How Long Will My Permanent Makeup Last?

Permanent makeup pigments aren't implanted into the skin as deeply as standard tattoos, which means they won't last as long. Depending on your skin type and skincare regimen, you can expect your permanent makeup to last anywhere between 1 and 3 years. If you periodically get microdermabrasion treatments or use skincare products with AHA or glycolic acid, you can expect the colour to fade faster.

Maximize the lifespan and appearance of your permanent tattoos, it is recommended to come in once every 12-24 months for a touch-up session.

CAUTIONS

  • You should not take aspirin, ibuprofen or anti-inflammatories from 2 days before. Do not drink alcohol from the night before your procedure.
  • You should stop taking all vitamin supplements at least 2 days before, and very important to stop taking any Omega 3 and Vitamin E supplements 5 days before, as these thin the blood and can result in excessive bruising and pigment migration.
  • Don't plan a facial, peel with acids, fibroblast or microneedling within 7 days before your procedure or 2 weeks after.
  • If you're unsure, it's best to consult your permanent makeup artist.
Are There Any Risks Or Complications?

We take the utmost care to ensure an absolutely sterile, hygienic environment and only use new needles and sterilized equipment for your procedure. It should be noted that allergic reactions to the numbing agent may occur. If you are prone to skin sensitivities it is advised that you come in for a small patch test to see how your skin responds to the treatment and pigment before committing to a full procedure.

Typically, people who are most prone to negative reactions already have problems with:

  • Sensitivity to nickel jewelry
  • Hair dye

If you are unsure about your skin sensitivity, a test appointment 5-7 days before the main appointment is advised, to determine how well your skin handles the treatment and heals.

What If I Don't Like The End Result?

Any permanent makeup procedure should be carefully considered beforehand. We will take the utmost care to create the best result for you; however it is advised that you do thorough research before committing to a permanent makeup procedure. Without regular touch-up sessions, your brow colour will eventually fade and can be made to appear more subtle in the interim with makeup.
